First off, we would like to share the potential plans we have narrowed down in brainstorming a potential chapter house:
To give a basic rundown of our plan, we are aiming to have $100,000 saved in our housing corporation’s fund to have a significant down payment on a potential chapter house by the end of the Spring 2022 semester. Currently, the housing fund has $52,000 put aside towards this $100,000 goal.
We are asking our alumni, as well as any interested parties, to consider donating to our housing fund. We are organizing several fundraising events to take place in the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters to help raise more donations, but to reach our goal we will all have to work together. We are not asking for large donations from individuals (although we are greatly appreciative of this), as we understand much of our alumni are recent college graduates and therefore may not have the financial means to do so. However, we are asking for our alumni to donate any amount towards our housing fund. In doing so, you are helping us create a house to come home to in Columbia. Having a chapter house will ensure the legacy of Theta Chi at the University of South Carolina will endure for decades to come. Additionally, having the house will not just benefit undergraduates, but also alumni who return home to their alma mater. For weekends such as homecoming, all the brothers of the Iota Phi chapter of Theta Chi will have a central home to return to and enjoy.
Again, any size of donation is acceptable and appreciated. We look forward to updating everyone of fundraising goals, plan developments, and miscellaneous updates on our journey to establish a chapter house for Iota Phi on our website!
